Brianna Butler has been named to the Daktronics, Inc., All-Midwest Region First Team, while four other Tritons were named to the Second Team. Those honorees include junior second baseman
Katie Wood, freshman shortstop
Alex Stupek, junior outfielder
Jena Boudreau and sophomore pitcher
Hannah Perryman.
Butler has started all 54 games and is batting .335 with 53 hits, including 13 doubles and 14 homeruns, and a team-high 45 RBIs. Her 14 homeruns are a single season record, while she has 32 career long balls, also a program-best. Butler was a Second Team All-GLVC selection this season after being a first team honoree as a freshman and a sophomore. She enters this weekend's NCAA Midwest Super Regional on a nine-game hitting streak.
Wood has also started all 54 games and is batting.331 with 53 hits, including nine doubles and 10 homeruns, 38 RBIs and 33 runs scored. She was a Second Team All-GLVC pick.
Stupek was named the GLVC Freshman of the Year and selected to the league's first team. She leads the Tritons with a .384 batting average and 68 hits, which ties the second most in a single season. Stupek is tied for second on the team with 11 homeruns and also has 44 RBIs and 42 runs scored.
Boudreau is batting .343 and is second on the team with 61 hits, including a team-best 16 doubles. A First Team All-GLVC selection, Boudreau also has 11 homeruns, 34 RBIs and 38 runs scored.
A two-time GLVC Pitcher of the Year and two-time First Team All-GLVC selection, Perryman leads the NCAA with 13.8 strikeouts per game and is also first with 397 strikeouts this season, which shatters the single season mark of 352 she set last year. She is 28-5 in the circle with a 1.17 ERA and is limiting opponents to a .135 batting average. Perryman tossed her first collegiate perfect game in an 8-0 victory over Ohio Dominican in the second round of the NCAA Midwest Regionals. It was her fourth career no-hitter and third this season. Perryman also directed UMSL to its second straight GLVC Tournament championship with a no-hitter in a 3-0 win over Bellarmine.
UMSL is ranked No. 6 nationally in the NFCA DII Poll with an overall record of 48-6, a program record for victories. The Tritons went 3-0 in last weekend's NCAA Midwest Regional #1 to advance to this weekend's Super Regional, where they will host Wayne State.
University of Indianapolis sophomore Morgan Foley and Grand Valley State University senior shortstop Briauna Taylor were named the Daktronics, Inc. Midwest Region Softball Pitcher and Player of the Year, respectively.
The Daktronics, Inc. all-region teams are nominated and voted on by sports information directors from schools in the respective regions. It is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., and focuses on awarding outstanding performances by student-athletes at the NCAA Division II level. First-team honorees advance to the national ballot for All-America consideration.
