No. 22 Volleyball Advances to GLVC Tournament Semifinals With Sweep of Bellarmine

ST. LOUIS, MO. – The No. 22 ranked and third-seeded University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team swept past sixth-seeded Bellarmine, 25-21, 25-23, 25-23, on Friday morning in quarterfinal round action of the 2019 GLVC Tournament.
 
The Tritons win just the program's fourth-ever league tournament victory (4-17), while it marks the first time they advance to the semifinals since 2010. UMSL will face the winner of the No. 2 seed Lewis and No. 7 seed Illinois Springfield match tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UMSL used an 8-1 run to close out the first set, scoring seven straight to turn a 20-17 deficit into a 24-20 advantage.
- The Tritons then scored three of the final four points of the second set, including back-to-back kills from seniors Selena Nolte and Amanda Vollmer to break a 22-22 tie.
- UMSL never trailed in the third set, but had to fend off a late Knights rally. A kill from freshman Raquel Kessler gave the Tritons a 19-12 lead before Bellarmine got within 21-20.
- UMSL hit .244 and totaled 47 kills (15.67 per set), while limiting Bellarmine to .144 hitting and 39 kills.
- The Tritons out-blocked Bellarmine, 8-3.
 
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING                                                
- Senior Kylie Rudsinski finished with 13 kills, hitting .524, while sophomore Charlotte Richards also tallied 13 kills.
- Nolte added 11 kills and three blocks.
- Junior Kaileen Herman dished out 40 assists, while sophomore Megan Woll recorded 19 digs.
- Vollmer tallied six blocks.
