ST. LOUIS, MO. – More than 130 UMSL student-athletes were recognized Thursday night during halftime of the men's basketball game as part of Academic Appreciation Night for attaining a 3.2 GPA or higher during the Fall 2017 semester.
As a department, UMSL's student-athletes posted a cumulative GPA of 3.3 and recorded 33 straight A's. 72 percent earned higher than a 3.0, while 12 of 13 athletic programs boasted a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA.
The women's tennis team led all teams with a 3.740 GPA, while volleyball (3.649), women's golf (3.630), men's golf (3.577) and men's tennis (3.427) rounded out the top five.
Additionally, senior Danielle Waedekin of the volleyball team was presented her First Team Academic All-American award.
