ST. LOUIS, MO. – University of Missouri-St. Louis head women's basketball coach
Katie Vaughn has announced the signing of
Alexa Chairs (St. Charles, Mo.),
Kyra Hungerford (Grinnell, Iowa),
Alex LaPorta (Highland, Ill.) and
Alex Specht (Farmersville, Ill.) to national letters of intent to join the Tritons program beginning with the 2017-18 academic year.
Alexa Chairs | 5-7 guard
Prepped at St. Charles High School… first team all-conference selection as a senior after averaging 13 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game… named to Class 4 All-District Team… earned all-tournament team honors at the First State Community Bank I-44 Showcase and the MICDS Holiday Tournament… received second team all-conference honors as a junior after averaging 11.6 points and 2.5 steals per game… was also an all-district selection… two-time Most Improved Player on team… helped the Pirates to a 21-8 record as a junior, which included conference, district and section championships… team was 25-2 as a sophomore and conference champion.

"Alexa is a physical guard that has good range, a great pull-up, and can finish at the rim. Her dedication to the game and desire to grow is one of a kind. We are also thrilled about adding a local standout to our roster!"
Kyra Hungerford | 5-6 guard/point guard
Prepped at Grinnell High School… Second Team All-Little Hawkeye Conference selection as a senior after averaging 10.1 points per game… ranked fourth in conference in three-point field goal shooting (40.4 percent… Little Hawkeye honorable mention honoree as a junior after averaging 8.2 points per game… shot 38.7 percent from the field, including 30 percent from three-point range, and was 75 percent at the free throw line… helped team to a 16-7 overall record as a junior… averaged 7.1 points per game as a sophomore… plays AAU for All-Iowa Attack.

"Kyra's fundamentals are top notch. She is a skilled combo guard that loves developing her game. Her basketball IQ is what really drew us to her and we are elated she chose UMSL."
Alex LaPorta | 6-0 forward/guard
Prepped at Highland High School… two-time Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) Honorable Mention All-State honoree… two-time First Team Mississippi Valley Conference (MVC) selection… twice selected to the
Belleville News-Democrat All-Area Team… named
Belleville News-Democrat Player of the Week several times and selected to various all-tournament teams… as a senior, averaged 13.8 points, 12.9 rebounds and 3.15 assists per game… pulled down 426 total rebounds, second most in the St. Louis area… helped team to a 29-4 record, which included conference and regional championships… as a junior, averaged 10.4 points and 11 rebounds per game… team was 31-5 as a junior – the best record in school history – and included regional, sectional and super sectional championships… team was the first in program history to qualify for state, where the Bulldogs placed third.

Alex Specht | 6-3 forward
Prepped at Blue Ridge High School… averaged 13.3 points, seven rebounds, 3.5 blocks and three steals per game as a senior… played in conference and
News-Gazette all-area all-star games..
