ST. LOUIS, MO. – Junior
Jordan Fletcher filled up the stat sheet with 29 points, 14 rebounds, three steals, three assists and two blocks to help the No. 7 seed University Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team defeat No. 10 seed Saint Joseph's College Sunday afternoon in first round action of the 2017 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.
The Tritons advance to Friday's quarterfinals in Evansville, Ind., with an opponent and game time yet to be announced after the conference re-seeds today's winners.
UMSL improves to 16-11 overall and has won seven of its last eight contests. Saint Joseph's ends its season with an 12-17 record.
Numbers of Note
-Fletcher's 29 points were a season-high and two shy of her career-best, while her double-double was her fifth of the year, including her third in the last four games.
-Fletcher's two blocks give her 101 in her career, which ranks third on the program charts.
-Senior
Robneisha Lee added 10 points and three assists.
-UMSL shot a season-best 55.6 percent from the field, while limiting Saint Joseph's to 32.6 percent, and held a 33-23 rebounding advantage.
-Defensively, the Tritons have limited nine opponents to fewer than 55 points this season.
-UMSL recorded 16 assists on 25 field goals. Junior
Shawnta Johnson tallied four of those off the bench.
-The Tritons outscored Saint Joseph's, 31-19, in the second half.
How it Happened
UMSL clung to a 27-24 halftime time advantage after owning a 15-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Tritons jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the contest, connecting on four of their first six field goal attempts.
Saint Joseph's opened the second quarter with a 10-2 spurt, netting its first five shots, and went on top 22-17 with 7:20 to play. UMSL followed with seven unanswered, including five from Fletcher, to retake the lead at 24-22.

Sammie Sproul made it 38-29 two and a half minutes later. UMSL took a 44-37 lead into the final frame.
The Tritons limited the Pumas to six points in the final 10 minutes as the guests were just 2-of-11 from the field.
