ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team recently hosted a Back-2-School Jamboree at the Jennings School District on August 6.
The Tritons had eight players, including
Kayla Delgado,
Lauren Lottmann,
Lee Strande,
Skye Clark,
Rose Crabtree,
Cara Wilfong and
Alexa Griffonetti teach soccer skills to several Jennings students.
"It was exciting to see the kids enjoying themsleves while playing a sport that isn't as popular as others in their community," said Lottmann, a sophomore midfielder. "Knowing that we can change their perspective of a sport and encourage them to try something new in a short amount of time is a reward in itself."
Clark, a freshman goalkeeper, agreed, saying "They were so excited to learn," while Strande, a sophomore midfielder/back, added, "They seemed excited about coming back this fall to continue to play with FC1821."
The event also kicked off the women's soccer team's project with the Missouri Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) and Jennings School District where Triton players will be coaching a youth program on Saturdays this fall and next spring. It begins this Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
