LOUISVILLE, KY. – University of Missouri-St. Louis junior pitcher Hannah Perryman has been announced as one of three finalists for the inaugural Schutt Sports/NFCA DII National Player of the Year.

Behind the collaboration between the NFCA and the NCAA Division II Head Coaches Committee, and the generosity of Schutt Sports, the award was created to honor the outstanding athletic achievement among softball student-athletes throughout Division II.

The other two finalists include North Georgia junior pitcher Courtney Poole and Augustana (S.D.) senior pitcher/utility Jenelle Trautmann.

Perryman, who has already been named the GLVC Pitcher of the Year and the Daktronics, Inc., Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year, is 29-3 in the circle this season with a 1.13 ERA and a .125 opponent batting average. She has recorded 17 shutouts, including a current string of five straight, and has 353 strikeouts. A two-time NFCA Pitcher of the Week and three-time GLVC Pitcher of the Week, Perryman has recorded an NCAA record six perfect games this season. She also tied four-time All-American and Olympic gold medalist Cat Osterman (Texas) and DIII Rachel Johnson of Salisbury for first among all NCAA Divisions with her seventh career perfect game in UMSL's GLVC Tournament win over Rockhurst. She leads NCAA Division II in strikeouts per seven innings (13.1) and hits allowed per seven innings (3.12), is second in shutouts and strikeouts, sixth in victories and ninth in ERA.

Perryman has helped UMSL to a 47-6 record and a No. 1 national ranking. The Tritons will host No. 10 ranked Indianapolis on Friday and Saturday in the NCAA Midwest Super Regional in a best two out of three series with the winner advancing to the NCAA DII Softball Championships May 21-25 at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The National Player of the Year trophy will be presented during a live ceremony at the Division II Championship/All-American banquet on Wednesday May 20, prior to the national championships tournament.

The Division II National Player of the Year award is voted on by the members of the NFCA's Division II All-American & Coaching Staff of the Year Committee.
