INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - With the 2015 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship field announcement on Friday, the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's golf team is set to make its 10th postseason trip, and it's fourth in the last five years. The Tritons, who secured an automatic berth after claiming their first-ever GLVC Championship last Tuesday, will be one of 20 teams competing in the Midwest/Central Regional May 4-6 at the Cog Hill Golf Club in Lemont, Ill., with Lewis University serving as the host.
There will be four regional sites across the country, with two regions at each site, consisting of both team and individual competition being conducted concurrently with 20 teams and eight individual players from non-qualifying teams. The top five teams from the Midwest/Central Regional, along with the top two players not with a team (regardless of region), advance to the NCAA Championships May 18-22 at Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, N.C., hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne University.
Dubbed the No. 3 seed in the Midwest, UMSL will be one of just three GLVC teams at the regional, including No. 1 Indianapolis and No. 5 and host Lewis. Other teams from the Midwest Region include: No. 2 Grand Valley State, No. 4 Tiffin, No.6 Lake Superior State, No. 7 Ferris State, No. 8 Malone, No. 9 Saginaw Valley State and No. 10 Walsh.
Teams from the Central Region include Ifrom 1-10): Central Missouri, Central Oklahoma, Arkansas Tech, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Henderson State, Northeastern State, Southern Nazarene, Minnesota State-Mankato, Washburn and Southeastern Oklahoma State.
Midwest Region individuals include Nick Aarman (Rockhurst), DJ Vogt and Lucas Jones (Bellarmine) and Emil Lundgren (Northern Michigan). Central Region individuals include Ryan Buerk (Missouri Southern), Trey Herman (Fort Hays State), Tyler Koivisto (St. Cloud State) and Corey Knight (Missouri Western).
UMSL, ranked No. 21 in the latest Golfweek NCAA DII Coaches Poll, has recorded eight top-five finishes this season and owns a scoring average of 298.85. Junior
