ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team posted a 5-1 victory over Indianapolis on Sunday in the third place match of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament on Sunday morning.
 
The Tritons took a 2-1 lead after doubles, including a hard-fought 9-8 match at No. 2 by Lina Parra and Natalia Vaz de Carvalhais.
 
UMSL then claimed victories in three singles matches to secure the win. Senior Louisa Werner won at No. 2 6-4, 6-1, while junior Leanne Cantalupo posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6 before sophomore Renee Verboven won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3.
 
The Tritons improve to 17-6 overall and will await word from the NCAA on April 29 if they will receive the program's first-ever bid to the NCAA Tournament. UMSL has been ranked No. 6 in the last two NCAA Midwest Regional rankings with the top seven teams earning a bid. Indianapolis has been ranked No. 7.
