ST. LOUIS, MO. – Brendon Widau scored his first two goals of the season to help No. 6 seed Indianapolis upset No. 3 seed Missouri-St. Louis, 2-0, in one of four quarterfinal round games of the 2014 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament Championship on Sunday afternoon.
The Tritons, hosting a GLVC tournament game for the first time since 2002, end their season at 12-4-2, while the Greyhounds improve to 10-5-3 and advance to Friday's semifinals against No. 2 seed Drury. This was the second loss to UIndy this season as the Greyhounds defeated the Tritons, 3-0, during the regular season.
Widau scored his first goal just three minutes into the game and netted an insurance goal in the 75
th minute.
The Greyhounds recorded 14 shots, placing nine on target, with UMSL keeper
Nick Lenkman registering seven saves. The Tritons tallied 13 shots, landing five on goal. Junior
Tyler Collico recorded five, while freshman
Nick Werner took three, placing two on target.
