NCAA Release/Full Brackets | Midwest Regional #2 Bracket (printable)

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – They knew they were in by winning the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament and earning the league's automatic bid, but now the University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team knows who and where it is playing as the NCAA Division II Softball bracket was announced Monday morning. 
 
The No. 3 seeded Tritons (39-11) will travel to Allendale, Mich., for the Midwest Regional #2 to begin their contention for the NCAA Championship. UMSL will face conference foe Southern Indiana (29-20) on Friday at 12 p.m. (EST). Grand Valley State (39-6) will serve as the host and is the No. 2 seed and will play No. 7 seed Ferris State (29-14) at 2:30 p.m. (EST).
 
UMSL and Southern Indiana will be meeting for the third time this season. The Tritons took a doubleheader from the Screaming Eagles early in the conference season, winning 3-1 and 16-1.
 
In the other Midwest Regional bracket, No. 1 seed Indianapolis (50-5) will face No. 8 seed Wayne State (Mich.) (30-20), while No. 4 seed Lewis (31-15) will meet No. 5 seed Ashland (27-18).
 
The double-elimination tournament will finish Sunday, with the winners advancing to the NCAA Super Regional the following weekend. Each of the eight regional winners across the country will then meet at the NCAA Championship May 23-27 at Moyer Complex in Salem, Va.
 
UMSL is 39-11 this season, the program's second most wins. The Tritons went 26-4 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play, earning the league's West Division title, while setting a new program mark for GLVC victories.
 
This is the third NCAA Regional appearance in program history and the first since the 2009 team earned a bid.
 
Freshman pitcher Hannah Perryman will lead the Tritons into the NCAA Tournament. The GLVC Pitcher of the Year leads the nation in strikeouts per seven innings (12.5) and is second overall with an UMSL single season 334strikeouts. She is 23-5 in the circle with a 1.51 ERA.
 
Offensively, the Tritons have three players batting better than .350, including sophomore Madison Zbaraschuk's .371 average. Zbaraschuk owns team-highs of 52 RBIs and 12 homeruns and has recorded 59 hits.
 
Haleigh Jenkins, the squad's lone senior, is hitting .363 and leads the team with 62 hits. She also has 42 RBIs and 10 homeruns.
