BOLIVAR, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team dropped a doubleheader at Southwest Baptist Thursday afternoon. The host Bearcats won the opener 12-3 in six innings before a 1-0 victory in the nightcap.

The Tritons slip to 7-5, while SBU evens its ledger at 9-9 with the wins.

Senior Katie Bartlett provided UMSL with a pair of hits in the first game, including a two-run home run – her team leading sixth of the year.

The Tritons were out-hit 16-6.

Freshman Leslie Davis (4-2) suffered the loss, allowing six runs on 11 hits in three innings.

In the second contest, Southwest Baptist broke five scoreless innings with the game’s lone run in the bottom of the sixth. The Bearcats rattled off three straight hits to open that frame in helping to get the winning run across the plate.

UMSL tallied five hits, while SBU recorded six off sophomore Stephanie Benson. Benson (0-3) took the loss, striking out five.

Seniors Meaghan Bauer and Megan Brussman had two hits each, with Brussman tallying doubles on both hits.

The Tritons return to action tomorrow and Saturday, competing in the Pittsburg State Invitational.
