Biography:
Inducted: 2002
Barbara Schorp first began working in the UMSL Athletic Department in August 1971, and continued working in UMSL Athletics until her passing away in December 2001. She began as a part-time employee and progressed to a position of Administrative Associate to the Athletic Director. Schorp served three different athletic directors at UMSL, beginning with Chuck Smith, later with Rich Meckfessel and most recently for current athletic director Pat Dolan. Schorp handled many of the departmental budget accounts for the various athletic programs, oversaw the supervision of office preparations and payroll for the department. She earned many chancellor certificates and was active in a variety of committees on the UMSL campus. She was the recipient of the first and second staff incentive awards in 1991 and 1992.

Schorp was always there offering encouragement to others, demonstrating enthusiasm and support, and making a difference in the lives of the many people with whom she came in contact. In her 30 years of devotion and dedication to the athletic department, perhaps her biggest contribution to those who work and compete tirelessly in athletics, was to show everyone the true meaning of courage in her battle against cancer.
