Thorngren Named First Team All-America

CORAL SPRINGS, FLA. – University of Missouri-St. Louis senior Emma Thorngren has been named First Team All-America, as announced today by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).

Thorngren earns All-America status for the third time in her career after previously earning honorable mention honors as a freshman and a sophomore. She is the only All-American in program history.

Thorngren picked up the accolades after a season in which she finished ranked seventh in NCAA Division II Golfstat Player Rankings. She posted a single-season program record 72.84 scoring average, winning three tournaments and finishing no lower than eighth in seven events with five top-five finishes.

Thorngren shot par or better in seven of 19 rounds, which included a program-low 65 at the DBU Women's Classic last fall. She also went lower than 70 two other times (68 at Flagler Fall Slam and 69 at UIndy Fall Invitational).

Thorngren, who has said she will return to UMSL next year after the NCAA granted spring sports student-athletes the opportunity to do so following the cancellation of this season by the COVID-19 pandemic, is the program's career scoring average leader at 75.46.
