 February 24, 2010STARKVILLE, MISS. – Senior catcher Katie Bartlett of the University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player of the Week, respectively, for games played Feb. 15-21.
Bartlett went 8-for-14 over four games and helped guide her team to a 3-1 record on the week. She finished the week with a .571 batting average, four runs, six RBIs, a double and a home run.
Bartlett gave the Tritons a fighting chance in their lone loss of the week against Union (Tenn.) on Friday by tying the game in the top of the seventh with a solo home run. She finished that contest 1-for-3 before helping her squad rebound from the loss with a 9-0 victory over William Woods in the nightcap. In the win, Bartlett was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
She returned on Saturday to help UMSL to a pair of victories. UMSL avenged its loss to Union with a 6-5 win over the Bulldogs with Bartlett delivering a 2-for-4 effort at the plate with two RBIs. She closed out the weekend with a 3-for-4 performance, including a double and an RBI in the Tritons’ 15-5 win over William Woods.
Bartlett also finished the week with a slugging percentage of .857.
