Prenger's Goal in OT Lifts Women's Soccer to Win

ST. LOUIS, MO. – Freshman Anne Prenger found the back of the net in overtime, helping the University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan Friday night in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

Prenger notched the game winner in the 98th minute of play on a corner kick by junior AJ Brewer. It was Prenger’s first career goal and the second assist of the season for Brewer.

The Tritons, who won their second straight game, improve to 2-4-1 on the season, including 2-1-1 in the GLVC. Kentucky Wesleyan slips to 3-5-1 and 0-4-1 in the league.

The Panthers scored first, notching a goal in the 14th minute before senior Angela Red found the back of the net in the 23rd minute to knot the score at 1-1.

UMSL held a 15-4 advantage in shots and landed nine shots on target. Kentucky Wesleyan hit three shots on goal with freshman Hanna Sayre recording two saves – both in the second half.

Juniors Maggie Gabris and Danielle Dahm led UMSL with three shots each, while juniors Amy Fox and Lynn Cerny each fired two shots.

Senior Mary Behrmann started at the keeper position for the Tritons, playing the game’s first 45 minutes.

UMSL is back in action on Sunday afternoon, hosting Bellarmine in a 12 p.m. contest at Don Dallas Field.
