Jones Announces Signing of Two For Volleyball

ST. LOUIS, MO. – University of Missouri-St. Louis head volleyball coach Trent Jones has announced the signing of Tabatha Albers (St. Rose, Ill./Mater Dei) and Anna McNulty (Des Moines, Iowa/Roosevelt High School) to national letters of intent to join the Tritons program beginning with the 2010-11 academic year.

Albers, a 5-11 middle hitter, was a standout at Mater Dei High School, where she helped the Lady Knights to a state runner-up finish and a 35-7 record as a senior and a third place finish and a 37-6 record as a junior in Illinois Class 3A.

Albers is also a member of the Southwest Illinois Volleyball Club 171 which competed in nationals earlier this year.

“I am very excited that Tabatha has chosen UMSL,” said Jones. “She is an outstanding blocker and is a strong player in front of the setter. I am looking for her to step in right away and compete for a middle hitter spot.”

McNulty, a 5-9 setter, was a four-year starter at Des Moines Roosevelt High School, earning all-CIML honors each year, including first team honors her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. She is also a three-time all-district honoree and was selected to play in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Senior All-Star Game. As a senior, McNulty recorded 786 assists and 45 service aces, while helping the Roughriders to a 24-16 record, the most wins in school history. She is the school’s all-time career leader in assists (2,258).

McNulty is also a member of the Iowa High Performance Volleyball Association 18’s team.

“We are very excited to have Anna join our program,” said Jones. “She is a technically sound setter who can deliver the ball and her abilities will allow her to run our offense quickly. Anna will give our team great energy and even more depth at the setter position.”
