Gyllenborg Signs Danielle Henkel to Join Women's Tennis Program

ST. LOUIS, MO. – University of Missouri-St. Louis head tennis coach Rick Gyllenborg has announced the signing of Danielle Henkel (Schertz, Texas) to a national letter of intent to join the Tritons women’s program beginning with the 2010-11 academic year.

“We are excited to have a player of Danielle’s caliber join our program,” said Gyllenborg. “She has great athleticism and will be an immediate impact in both singles and doubles. She also has a great personality that will fit in very well with the rest of the team.”

Henkel prepped at Samuel Clemens High School, playing at No. 1 singles as a junior and a senior. She was also part of the squad’s No. 1 doubles tandem as a senior after playing at No. 2 as a junior.

She was ranked #3 in singles in Texas Class 4A District as a senior and #4 as a junior. As a sophomore Henkel ranked #3 in mixed in 5A District and was #4 in singles in 5A as a freshman.

Her rankings include #25 Standing List for 18 Champs and #9 in 2007 for 16 Champs.

Henkel is also a four-time academic all-district honoree and was named her team’s MVP twice.
