ST. JOSEPH, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team earned an 8-1 victory at Missouri Western Friday afternoon to improve to 4-1 on the season.
The Tritons swept doubles play before taking five of six singles matches.
Junior Stephanie Thompson and sophomore Pujitha Bandi claimed an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles before winning their respective singles flights. Thompson was a 6-2, 6-4 winner at No. 1, while Bandi was a 6-4, 6-0 winner at No. 2.
Junior Aya Gombo and sophomore Leticia Garcia also paired together for a doubles win (8-5 at No. 2) before recording wins in singles. Gombo won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3, while Garcia won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4.
Sophomore Katie Rynkiewich and junior Annie Gonzalez were 8-0 winners at No. 3 doubles, while Rynkiewich was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 5 singles to round out the scoring.
UMSL returns to the court tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Northwest Missouri State. Go Back
