ELSAH, ILL. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team lost its first match of the season, an 8-1 verdict to NCAA Division I foe Western Illinois Sunday.
The Tritons (3-1) lost close matches at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles, both by scores of 8-6, but entered singles play trailing 3-0. Western Illinois (1-5) then won five of six singles matches. Sophomore Pujitha Bandi recorded the lone score for UMSL at No. 2 singles. Holding a 4-3 lead in the first set, Bandi's opponent was forced to retire due to an injury.
UMSL is idle until March 12 when it travels to Missouri Western. Go Back
