Softball Tops Missouri Baptist, Maryville

ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team picked up a pair of non-conference wins over cross-town rivals Missouri Baptist and Maryville Tuesday afternoon at the UMSL Softball Field.

The Tritons handed Missouri Baptist a 7-2 loss before topping Maryville, 5-1.

UMSL improves to 26-24 on the season, while Missouri Baptist falls to 26-16 and Maryville falls to 24-15.

Junior Megan Riggs went 3-for-4 with two RBIs against Missouri Baptist, while sophomore Carly Maddock delivered a home run and double, finishing 2-for-3 at the plate.

Freshman Amanda Seib garnered the win, pitching the complete game. She allowed just two runs on six hits.

The Tritons used five hits and two Maryville errors to score five runs against the Saints. Riggs scored a pair of runs, while freshman Karey Kruse recorded a two-run single.

Freshman Crystal Koehler pitched the complete, moving to 8-6 on the season. She allowed just three hits and struck out eight.

UMSL returns to action Thursday at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. The No. 7 seed Tritons take on No. 2 seed SIU Edwardsville at 12 p.m. The tournament is being played in East Peoria, Ill.
