Gaff Signs National Letter of Intent to Join Volleyball Program

ST. LOUIS, MO. – University of Missouri-St. Louis head volleyball coach Josh Lauer has announced the signing of Weslie Gaff (Streator, Ill./Streator) to a national letter of intent to join the Tritons volleyball team for the 2008-09 academic year.

"Weslie will continue our tradition of top notch middle hitters,” said Lauer. “Her experience in both club and high school will make her a valuable addition to our program. We are also very excited that she is committed to academic excellence. UMSL Volleyball has always valued academics as the foundation of the student-athlete experience and Weslie will have a terrific impact in this area. It is an exciting time for Triton Volleyball and the entire team is very happy to welcome Weslie to the UMSL Volleyball family."

A two-time unanimous first team all-North Central Illinois Conference Reagan Division honoree, Gaff recorded 301 kills, 103 blocks and 174 digs as a senior. She was also named the Ottawa Times Volleyball Player of the Year, was selected to the Champaign-Urbana News Gazette honorable mention all-state team and was a Bloomington Pantagraph all-area second team honoree as a senior. Gaff has also earned first team all-academic honors and served as captain for her varsity team.

Gaff plays club volleyball for the Illini Elite Volleyball Club and was a member of the 17 Black squad, which won AAU Nationals and placed ninth in the American Division.
