Volleyball Wins 3-0 at Missouri-Rolla, Secures GLVC Tourney Bid

ROLLA, MO., October 30, 2007 – Sophomore Megan Walker (Springfield, Tenn./Goodpasture) and junior Chelsea Baumstark (Hermann, Mo./Hermann) combined for 23 kills as the University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team defeated host Missouri-Rolla, 30-20, 30-19, 30-22, Tuesday night in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

With the win, the Tritons secured a bid to the GLVC Tournament and improve their ledger to 14-17, including 10-8 in league play.

Walker finished with a game-high 13 kills and hit at a sizzling .500 clip, committing just two errors in 22 attempts. Baumstark added 10 kills for the Tritons.

Junior Lisa Brinker (Washington, Mo./Washington) had a solid all-around game, recording 30 assists, nine digs and six kills on the night. Junior Joslyn Brown (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic) finished with a team-high 17 digs.

The Tritons hit at a .200 clip, collecting 45 kills as a team. Missouri-Rolla, which fell to 3-28, including 2-16 in the GLVC, hit .105 and tallied 31 kills. Leandra Pelae led the Miners with 11 kills.

UMSL returns to action Saturday when they travel to Southern Indiana for a 3 p.m. match, which will close out the regular season.
