UMSL soars past Eagles with 3-1 win

St. Louis, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team claimed a 3-1 victory past visiting Southern Indiana Saturday afternoon, 30-18, 30-23, 22-30, 30-23, in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

The Tritons dominated from the start, hitting at a .347 clip in the first game, while collecting 19 kills. UMSL finished the contest hitting .162, while limiting Southern Indiana to a .129 hitting percentage.
UMSL was led by Christy Trame, who collected 17 kills on the day. Claudia Medina and Elizabeth Cook added 15 and 13 kills, respectively, while Heather Nichols also reached double figures with 11 kills. Nichols also paced the team with a team-high 21 digs, while Lisa Brinker dished out 58 assists and collected 10 digs.

UMSL improved to 6-7, including 3-1 in GLVC, with the win, while Southern Indiana fell to 7-5, including 2-2 in the GLVC. The Screaming Eagles were led by Molly Rahman’s 14 kills.
The Tritons return to action Wednesday when they travel to Truman State at 7 p.m.
