Women's Basketball Drops 72-52 Decision at No. 6 Drury

SPRINGFIELD, MO. – Turnovers proved costly for the University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s basketball team at No. 6 ranked Drury Sunday afternoon as the Tritons lost a 72-52 decision in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

The Tritons committed 26 miscues, resulting in 33 points on the other end for the Panthers.

UMSL, in the midst of a four-game road swing that will close out the season, fall to 7-18 on the year, including 4-13 in the GLVC.

Drury, which won its 14th straight game, improves to 23-2, including 15-2 in the league. The Panthers also remained perfect in all nine meetings with the Tritons.

Senior Courtney Watts and sophomore Kristi White led the Tritons offensive charge with 11 and nine points, respectively.

Drury held a 40-17 lead at halftime after scoring the final 10 points of the first stanza, while UMSL failed to score the final four minutes 28 seconds.

The Tritons finished the game shooting 29.8 percent, while Drury shot at an even 39 percent clip. The Tritons held a 48-38 rebounding advantage with junior Mary Slaughter and White each pulling down a team-best seven rebounds.

UMSL returns to action Tuesday at Missouri S&T. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
