Before UMSL: Played two seasons at Southeastern Illinois College for head coach Paul McSparin as a pitcher.

High School: Played at Galatia High School for head coach Bill Ice as a pitcher and first base... three-time all-conference honoree... named captain of conference as a senior... selected to Southern Illinois Baseball Coach’s Association All-Star team as a junior and senior... helped team to 20-6 record as a senior... also played basketball for the Bearcats, earning all-state and all-conference honors.

Personal: Born February 16, 1987... son of Mark and Cathy Cockrum... majoring in accounting.
