 August 31, 2007St. Louis, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s soccer team won their third straight game to start the season, winning 3-0 over visiting Lyon College. The Tritons improve to 3-0 to start the season and have allowed just one goal in their first three games.
UMSL got on the board in the 23rd minute, scoring off a corner kick. Chris Clarkin took the corner kick and sent it to the far side of the box where Andy Schaul headed it past the keeper for a 1-0 UMSL lead going into halftime. The Tritons added two more in the second half. Jared Smith took the ball on a breakaway and went one-on-one against the keeper and found the net for a 2-0 lead in the 55th minute. UMSL would get the third goal in the 79th minute as Mike Simpson sent the ball into the box and after deflecting off a defender, Ryan South sent it to the back of the net for the 3-0 UMSL win. Tritons goalkeeper Mike Bober had two saves in the game and recorded his second shutout of the season. UMSL outshot Lyon 19-4 in the game and had seven corner kicks.
UM-St. Louis improves to 3-0 on the season and will be in action next weekend to open up the conference season at home. Go Back
