Former All-American and Hall of Famer Greg Daust Returns to UMSL

ST. LOUIS, MO. – Former University of Missouri-St. Louis All-American and current Hall of Fame member Greg Daust (Class of 1968) has been named a Director of Development in the Office of University Advancement at UMSL with primary responsibilities in athletics fundraising.

“Greg will be a tremendous asset to the University,” said Lily Ayala Berlyn, senior director of development. “He will bring an unparalleled commitment and passion to this position as he believes in and acknowledges the good work of UMSL. We are excited about his enthusiasm in reaching out and reconnecting with fellow alumni.”

Daust is UMSL’s all-time rebounding leader in men’s basketball history with 898 career rebounds in just two seasons. He averaged a school-record 16.9 rebounds per game for his career, including 18.7 during the 1968-69 season. He also holds the single season rebounding record with 487.

Daust was an All-American selection during the 1971-72 season and was drafted by the Denver Nuggets in the ABA draft following his career at UMSL. He was also a member of the 1968-69 team that won the District 16 Championship and advanced to the NAIA National Championship Tournament.

He was one of 12 inaugural members inducted into the UMSL Sports Hall of Fame in 2001.
