MESA, ARIZ. – Freshman Shweta Galande of the University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s golf team recorded a tie for 27th place in her first-ever appearance at the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championships, held Wednesday-Saturday at the Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.
Galande saved her best round for last, shooting a three-over par 74 on the final 18 holes to move up in the final standings from a tie for 36th place. She finished with an overall score of 311 (80-80-77-74).
Galande was even through her first nine holes on the final 18, paring the first seven straight before a birdie and a bogey. She then recorded six pars and three bogey’s on the back nine.
Nova Southeastern’s Sandra Changkija won the individual national championship with a 284 (74-67-71-72), bettering Newberry College’s Maria Luz Besio (290) who shot an 82 on her final round to relinquish a three-day lead.
Nova Southeastern also won the team title. Go Back
