ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team used a seven-run third inning to earn an 8-7 victory over Drury in its final game of the season Tuesday evening in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
UMSL ends its season with a 14-32 record, while Drury falls to 26-24.
The Tritons, who entered the bottom of the seventh with an 8-3 lead, saw Drury lead off the inning with three hits en route to a four-run inning. After junior reliever Ryne Moleski surrendered six hits and allowed four runs in one-thirds of an inning, senior Seth Cockrum closed out the game with a pair of two strikeouts to record his fifth save of the season.
Freshman Austin Schuler picked the win on the hill, working six innings and gave up just three runs on four hits.
Senior Phil Widel delivered a two-run homerun to highlight the third inning scoring spree for the Tritons, which tallied five hits in the inning, while senior Andy Ford had a two-run double and senior Steve Porter knocked out a two-run single.
Widel and juniors Kenny Ford and Mike Hoosen each finished with two hits as both teams put 10 hits on the board.
