Baseball Drops Two at Drury

SPRINGFIELD, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team lost a pair of games at Drury Monday evening, falling 11-1 and 1-0 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

The Tritons fall to 13-32 overall, including 6-20 in the GLVC, while Drury improves to 26-23 and 15-11 in league play.

UMSL was out-hit 13-5 in the opener, with senior Phil Widel recording a pair of hits for the Tritons. Sophomore Brandon Fear suffered the loss on the hill.

In the nightcap, Drury garnered the game's lone run with a one-out single in the bottom of the ninth which scored an unearned run.

The Tritons were held to just three hits, while Drury put four on the board.

Senior Seth Cockrum took the loss, pitching three innings in relief. Starter Gurdine Ackline gave up just two hits through five and two-thirds of an inning while striking out five.

The series concludes tomorrow at 4 p.m. at Maryville University as Drury needs at least one win to secure a bid to the GLVC Tournament.
