Tritons Baseball Season Ends With Pair of Losses to UIndy

GAME ONE
GAME TWO

O’FALLON, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team closed out the 2008 season with a pair of losses to visiting Indianapolis Sunday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action at TR Hughes Ballpark.

The Greyhounds picked up a 2-1 victory in the seven-inning opener before earning a 15-6 victory in the nine-inning second game.

Three Triton errors proved costly in the fifth inning of the first game as Indianapolis scored two runs on the UMSL miscues to turn a 1-0 deficit into the 2-1 victory.

Senior Ryan Ayers led off the game with a double and later crossed home on a single by junior Andy Ford for the early 1-0 lead.

Despite giving up just three hits in six innings, senior Kyle Hargis was credited with the loss on the mound. The hurler struck out five and walked only two batters, while leaving six runners stranded.

Senior Brady Decker took the loss in game two, allowing four earned runs on six hits in two and a third innings.

Senior Mark Sanders delivered a two-out two-run home run over the left field fence in the fifth inning to highlight the UMSL offense. Ayers and senior Scott Lavelock each recorded two hits in the contest, while Sanders and freshman Manny Flores each had a pair of RBIs.
