Bauer, Ellis Earn All-Region Honors in Softball

EVANSVILLE, IND. – Senior third baseman Meaghan Bauer and junior designated player JaCee Ellis of the University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team have been named to the 2010 Daktronics, Inc. Midwest All-Region Second Team, in a vote of the region’s Sports Information Directors.

The duo was also named to the first team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference list earlier this month.

Bauer was second on the team with 47 hits and third on the squad with a .356 hitting percentage. She also finished with 28 RBIs and 23 runs scored. Defensively, she committed just 11 errors at the corner, recording a .913 fielding percentage.

Ellis pounded 46 hits, including a team-high 10 doubles and a team second-best 10 home runs. She finished with 46 hits, 37 RBIs and 33 runs scored, while batting .354. Her 10 home runs rank second all-time on the single season charts and pushed her career total to 17, a new UMSL career record.

UMSL finished with a 26-20 record this season, including a 15-11 mark in the GLVC, while making to its third straight GLVC Tournament appearance.
