Softball Lands Three on All-GLVC Teams

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team had three players named to the all-Great Lakes Valley Conference team, released Thursday night by the league.

Senior third baseman Meaghan Bauer and junior designated player JaCee Ellis were selected to the first team, while junior outfielder Karey Kruse was tabbed to the second team. All three earn the honors for the first time in their careers.

Bauer ranked second in the GLVC with a .450 batting average, recording 36 hits, 33 RBIs and 18 runs scored. She was also third in hits per game (1.38) and fourth with an on-base percentage of .494. Bauer recorded a GLVC-high five hits in one game at Drury.

On the season, Bauer is the co-team leader in hits with 47 and owns a team-best .367 hitting percentage. She also has 28 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

Ellis recorded a .385 batting average in GLVC games, tallying 30 hits, including eight doubles and four home runs. She also finished league play with 20 runs scored and 17 RBIs and was third in on-base percentage (.500).

On the season, Ellis has a team-high 10 doubles and ranks second on the team with 45 hits and is third with 34 RBIs, while batting .355. She also has nine home runs and became the program’s all-time career leader in that category this year with 16.

Kruse finished the GLVC third in RBIs (27) and tied for fourth in home runs with seven. She batted .321, while also finishing with 25 hits and 17 runs scored.

Kruse is batting .356 on the season and is tied for the team lead with Bauer with 47 hits, including eight home runs, six doubles and two triples. She also owns a team-high 39 RBIs and has 30 runs scored.

UMSL opens GLVC Tournament play tomorrow as the fifth seed and will take on fourth seed Northern Kentucky at 10 a.m.
