ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s soccer team recorded a 1-0 victory over visiting Kentucky Wesleyan College in Great Lakes Valley Conference action Sunday afternoon on Senior Day.
The Tritons recognized their seven graduating seniors, including Amy Boehm, Danielle Dahm, Caitlin Farrow, Amy Fox, Maggie Gabris, Anne Nesbit and Sarah Stone prior to the start of competition.
Sophomore Jesa Jenkins helped send the seniors out on a winning note when she scored nine minutes into play after picking up a loose ball eight yards out in the middle on a pass from Dahm. Panthers keeper Alanna Miller came out of her post to try and intercept the cross, allowing Jenkins to one-time it around a Kentucky Wesleyan defender and shoot it into the back of the net.
UMSL improves to 4-8-1 on the year, including 4-7-1 in the GLVC, while Kentucky Wesleyan drops to 7-9-1 overall and 4-9-0 in the league.
Boehm played all 90 minutes at the keeper position, recording four saves, while improving her record to 2-3 on the season and registering her third shutout.
UMSL fired 17 shots, landing seven on goal, while Kentucky Wesleyan took 15 shots, placing four on target. Farrow recorded a team-high five shots, while Dahm and Jenkins took four and three, respectively.
UMSL is slated to close out the home portion of its schedule on Tuesday, when the Tritons step away from league play for the final time this year, hosting NCAA Division I and former GLVC member SIU Edwardsville at 7 p.m.
