Women's Soccer Draws 0-0 Tie in Opener Against Indianapolis

ST. LOUIS, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team fired 22 shots in its season opener against Indianapolis Sunday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference, but was unable to find the back of the net in 110 minutes of play as the game ended in a 0-0 double overtime tie.

The Tritons (0-0-1, 0-0-1 GLVC) landed eight shots on goal with junior Kaylee Nuetzling taking a team best eight shots, placing four on target. Junior Kelly Muesenfechter took seven shots, landing two on goal.

Defensively, UMSL held the Greyhounds (0-1-1, 0-0-1 GLVC) to just nine shots, with only three hitting target. Junior keeper Hanna Sayre played all 110 minutes in goal, recording three saves.

The Tritons held a 6-1 shots advantage in the opening half of play and didn’t allow the visiting Greyhounds their first shot until the 4:44 mark on the clock.

UMSL fired 11 shots in the second half to UIndy's six and owned a 5-2 advantage in the overtime periods.

The Tritons also held a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.

UMSL returns to action Friday, traveling to Wisconsin-Parkside for a 3:30 pm GLVC contest.
