April 23, 2009ST. LOUIS, MO., April 23, 2009 – Freshman Pujitha Bandi of the University of Missouri-St. Louis has been named to the all-Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Tennis Team, as announced today by the league.
In her first season for the Tritons, Bandi posted a team-best 17-8 record, including a 6-3 record in conference play. Bandi was moved from No. 2 singles to No. 1 in late March, where she has produced an 8-3 record at that position.
In doubles action, Bandi was 12-8, including 11-5 at No. 1 with teammate Stephanie Thompson.
Joining Bandi on the All-GLVC Women’s Tennis Team this season are Bellarmine’s Rebecca Porter and Sarah Roebker, Drury’s Chandra Capozzi, Katia Bon and Khrystsina Tryboi, Kentucky Wesleyan’s Emily Harpe, Northern Kentucky’s Stephanie Isaacs and Kristen Sunday and Rockhurst’s Kandice Belanger, Caitlin Buckley and Hannah Lazenby.
Bandi helped UMSL to its first GLVC Women’s Tennis Tournament berth since 2003-04. The event will be hosted by UMSL Friday and Saturday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center. The Tritons earned the No. 6 seed for the event and will open play against No. 3 seed Rockhurst at 11 a.m. Friday morning.
