Women's Tennis Closes Regular Season With 6-3 Loss

BOLIVAR, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s tennis team closed out the regular season with a 6-3 loss at Southwest Baptist Tuesday afternoon.

The No. 3 doubles team of Katie Rynkiewich and Katie Feldman scored the lone doubles point for the Tritons with an 8-2 victory. UMSL then won just two of six singles matches, four of which went to a decisive third set.

Pujitha Bandi bounced back from first set loss to record a 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 win at the No. 1 position. Stacy Goodman also rallied for a 3-6, 7-6(8-6), 10-5 win at No. 6 singles.

UMSL falls to 8-9 on the season, while Southwest Baptist evens its record at 8-8.

The Tritons return to action Friday, competing in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament, being held in St. Louis. UMSL, the No. 6 seed will begin quarterfinal round action Friday against No. 3 seed Rockhurst. That match begins at 11 a.m. and will be played at the Tao Tennis Center on the campus of Washington University.
