JOPLIN, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team recorded an 8-1 victory at Missouri Southern Monday afternoon in non-conference action to notch its third straight win.
The Tritons, who have also won six of their last seven matches, even their record at 8-8 on the season.
UMSL cruised through doubles play, recording an 8-3 win at No. 1 (Pujitha Bandi/Stephanie Thompson), an 8-2 win at No. 2 (Adriana Garcia/Altanzul Gombo) and an 8-1 win at No. 3 (Katie Feldman/Katie Rynkiewich), before claiming victories in five of six singles matches in straight sets.
Thompson was a 6-2, 6-4 winner at No. 2, while Gombo was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at No. 3. At the No. 4 position, Leticia Garcia was a 6-1, 6-1 winner, while older sister Adriana was a 6-1, 6-3 winner at No. 5. Stacy Goodman rounded out the scoring with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6.
UMSL closes out the regular season tomorrow at Southwest Baptist.
