Women's Tennis Downs Illinois-Springfield, 6-3

ST. LOUIS, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team earned a 6-3 victory over Illinois-Springfield Saturday in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

The win moves the Tritons to 8-6 on the season, including 3-0 in the GLVC.

Junior Stephanie Thompson and sophomore Pujitha Bandi (No. 1) and junior Aya Gombo and freshman Katie Rynkiewich (No. 2) each posted 8-5 wins in doubles play to give the Tritons an early 2-0 lead.

UMSL then claimed victories in four of six singles matches. Thompson (No. 1) was a 6-1, 6-3 winner, while Gombo (No. 3) posted a 6-1, 6-0 win. Rynkiewich (No. 4) tallied a 6-3, 4-6, 10-3 victory, while freshman Kristina Lazarova (No. 6) rounded out the scoring with a 6-3, 6-4 win.

The Tritons wrap up the home schedule tomorrow, hosting Truman State in a 1 p.m. match.
