Men's Tennis Defeats SIUE, 6-3, to Perfect in GLVC

ST. LOUIS, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's tennis team picked up a 6-3 victory over Great Lakes Valley Conference foe SIU Edwardsville Friday afternoon at the UMSL Tennis Courts. The match was also a key regional battle as the Tritons are ranked 10th in the Great Lakes Region and the Cougars are ranked eighth in the region.

With the victory, UMSL improves to 8-4 overall, including 4-0 in the GLVC. SIUE falls to 7-7, including 2-3 in the league.

The Tritons won all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead before winning three of six singles matches en route to the victory. Andreas Dimke and Boris Simic earned an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Ryan Burgdorfer and Daniel Anthony picked up an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. At the No. 3 doubles spot, Peter Hantack and Andre Chemas won 9-8 (11-9).

In singles action, Anthony won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3, while Chemas was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 5 and Hantack was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 3.

UMSL will be back in action tomorrow against Southern Indiana. The match begins at 10 a.m.
