October 29, 2009ST. LOUIS, MO. - Junior forward Jack McKenna of the University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s soccer team has been selected to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine College Division All-District VII First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
McKenna, who holds a cumulative grade point average of 3.90 in mechanical engineering, leads the team with six goals and 15 points. He has played in all 17 games, recording a team-best three game winning goals and has 24 shots on the season, landing 14 on goal.
McKenna has helped UMSL to an overall record of 9-6-2 and its first GLVC Tournament berth since 2006. The Tritons finished the Great Lakes Valley Conference season with a 7-5-2 record. UMSL is the No. 8 seed in the GLVC Tournament and travels to No. 1 seed Drury Sunday for a 1 p.m. contest.
To be eligible for nomination to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. McKenna is now eligible for selection to the Academic All-America Team.
