LOUISVILLE, KY., October 23, 2009 – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s soccer team saw its four-game win streak come to an end with a 2-0 loss at Bellarmine Friday evening in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
The host Knights scored two first half goals and never looked back.
UMSL, which out-shot its opponents, 14-12, drops to 8-6-2 on the season, including 6-5-2 in the GLVC. Bellarmine improves to 10-4-1 overall and 8-4-0 in the league.
Sophomore Johnny O’Mara fired a team-best six shots, landing four on goal. As a team, the Tritons placed seven shots on target, while Bellarmine landed nine on goal.
Sophomore Tim Boruff spent all 90 minutes in goal, recording six saves.
UMSL closes out the regular season Sunday at No. 12 Northern Kentucky in conference play. The Tritons are still in contention for their first postseason league tournament bid since 2006.
