Men’s Golf Finishes 18th in Great Lakes Regional

Final Results

SOUTH HAVEN, MICH. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s golf team shot a two-round score of 616 to earn an 18th place finish at the Great Lakes Regional, held Sunday and Monday at Hawks Head Golf Course in South Haven, Mich.

After firing a 310 yesterday, the Tritons shot a 306 on the final 18 holes today on the 72-par, 7,003-yard course. Wayne State (Mich.) claimed the team title with a 573 (291-282) in the 24-team field.

Individually for the Tritons, junior Matthew Rau shot a team-best 150 (74-76) to tie for 45th, while junior Ryan Penfield was close behind with a 151 (77-74), tying for 53rd. Junior Tim Cochran tied for 69th (77-78 155), while junior Matt McKiernan rounded out the scoring with a 160 (82-78), tying for 97th.

Northern Kentucky’s Dan Lewis garnered medalist honors with a 135 (68-67).

UMSL returns to action next week, competing in the Indianapolis Ken Partridge Intercollegiate.
