Cochran Places Third at Missouri Intercollegiate, Team Seventh

SUNRISE BEACH, MO. - Junior Tim Cochran of the University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s golf team fired a three-round score of 216 to earn a third place finish at the two-day Missouri Intercollegiate Tuesday and Wednesday at The Club at Porto Cima in Sunrise Beach, Mo.

Cochran finished even on the 72-par course, shooting rounds of 68, 72 and 76. Rockhurst’s Clarke Fry earned medalist honors with an 11 under par score of 205.

The Tritons combined for a 925 team score, shooting rounds of 308, 306 and 311 to come in seventh in the 16-team field made up of all Missouri schools. Central Missouri won the team title with an 880 team score.

Also for UMSL, junior Matt Rau finished in a tie for 29th place (77-76-77 230), while junior Ryan Penfield finished 32nd (78-79-74 231). Senior Ryan Higgins rounded out the Tritons’ scoring with a 248 (85-79-84), finishing in 58th place.

UMSL is back in action Sept. 20-21 at the Great Lakes Fall Regional in South Haven, Mich.
