April 13, 2008COLUMBUS, IND. – Led by junior Matt Thomas’ first day score of an even 72, the University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s golf team sits in a tie for fifth place in the team standings at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships, held at the Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Indiana.
Thomas fired rounds of 34 and 38 on the 72-par, 6,897-yard course to sit in fourth place individually, helping UMSL to a score of 304. The Tritons are tied with Drury and are 16 stokes behind leader Indianapolis, who shot a 289.
Junior Matt Winslow shot two 38’s for a 76 total and is tied for 21st. Sophomore Tim Swoboda (38-40 78), freshman Tim Cochran (39-39 78) and freshman Ryan Penfield (39-39 78) are all tied for 39th.
Round two resumes tomorrow morning before the championships conclude on Tuesday. Return To Articles
