Men's Golf Takes 12th Place at NKU Invitational

CHERRY BLOSSOM, KY. – After finishing the first day of the Northern Kentucky Spring Invitational in seventh place, the University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s golf team finished in 12th place at Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Kentucky.

The Tritons fired a first round score of 293, but shot a 301 on the final day for a total of 301 on the 72-par, 6,842-yard course. Indianapolis shot rounds of 285 and 292 for a 577 total.

Freshman Ryan Penfield paced UMSL with rounds of 75 and 73 for a 148 total to finish in a tie for 33rd. Junior Matt Thomas tied for 41st (72-77 149) while junior Matt Winslow tied for 49th (73-77 150). Sophomore Tim Swoboda (73-78 151) and freshman Tim Cochran (77-74 151) tied for 54th.

UMSL will be back in action April 13-15 when it competes for a Great Lakes Valley Conference championship. The league tournament will be played at Otter Creek Golf Club in Columbus, Indiana.
