SPRINGFIELD, MO. – Junior Ryan Penfield of the University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s golf team tied for second place individually at the Pasta House Drury Spring Invitational Monday and Tuesday, helping the Tritons to a fifth place team finish.
Penfield, who shot a first round score of 73 yesterday, fired a 75 on his final 18 holes to finish with a 148, one stroke behind medalist Andrew Funk of Drury (75-72-147). Penfield also finished in second place along with Southwest Baptist’s Justin Sellin and Fort Hays State’s Nick Hague.
UMSL finished with a two-day total of 623 (311-312), while Fort Hays State shot a 297 on the final 18 holes after a first round total of 312 to finish with a 609 and the team title. Southwest Baptist (303-307-310) was second, followed by Drury (304-311 615) and Pittsburg State (308-310-618) in third and fourth, respectively.
Also for the Tritons, junior Matt Rau finished in seventh place with a 150 (73-75), while junior Tim Cochran tied for 16th place with a 157 (81-76). Rounding out the scoring were junior Matt McKiernan (84-84-168) in 29th place and senior Ryan Higgins (94-86-180) in 37th place.
