Turnovers Hamper Men's Basketball in Loss at Drury

SPRINGFIELD, MO. – No. 21 ranked Drury University took advantage of 27 turnovers by the University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s basketball team, scoring 31 points off the miscues en route to a 63-57 victory Saturday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

Despite the loss, the Tritons held a 27-25 halftime advantage, finished the game shooting 48.7 percent, including 61.1 percent in the second half, compared to Drury’s 37.5 shooting percentage clip, and held a 35-25 rebounding advantage.

UMSL slips to 10-15 on the season, including 4-12 in the GLVC, while Drury moves to 20-5 and 13-3 in the league.

Sophomore Beaumont Beasley had 20 points for the Tritons, while senior Jeremy Brown came off the bench to add 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Sophomore Zach Redel pulled down a team-best nine rebounds and blocked two shots, while freshman Lance Cannon notched three blocked shots.

In a game that saw eight score ties and seven lead changes, neither team led by more than six points.

UMSL closes out the regular season at home next weekend beginning with a Thursday contest against Missouri S&T set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
