ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s basketball team lost a 68-55 decision to No. 11 ranked Drury Saturday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
The Tritons, who trailed 37-19 at the half, outscored the Panthers, 36-31, in the second stanza and cut the deficit to 53-45 with under six minutes to play on a three-point play by senior Sky Frazier. Drury then went on a 10-4 run to take a 63-48 lead on a three-point shot by Steven Gum with 2:26 remaining.
Green followed with a pair of three-pointers over the next one minute and 20 seconds to pull the Tritons within 64-55 with 1:06 remaining, but the Panthers sealed the game by going 4-of-4 at the free throw line in the final 57 seconds.
Senior Paul Paradoski scored 16 points to pace UMSL, which falls to 8-13 overall, including 3-10 in the GLVC, while Frazier added 11 points.
Drury improves to 18-3, including 11-2 in the league.
The Tritons finished the game shooting 42.9 percent from the field, including an even 50 percent in the second half, while Drury shot 51.1 percent. The Panthers also won the rebounding battle, collecting 27 boards to UMSL’s 18.
Senior David Ward finished with just two points, but moved into 22nd place all-time in UMSL scoring with 884 career points.
UMSL returns to action Thursday, hosting SIU Edwardsville at 7:30 p.m.
